The coffee business has for many centuries been a brutal business; often the people involved in the production have the most needs but receive the least benefit. Beyond Beans Coffee is a different story. Literally every penny of profit from our coffee goes to send a Nicaraguan young person to a Young Life camp. Look at the cost breakdown:
$1.25 Cost to the coffee grower (labor, fertilizer, etc).
$0.35 Mill cost (drying and removing final husk)
$0.20 Shipping cost to Florida via container
$0.90 Roaster labor cost
$0.65 Fixed costs at roaster (rent & admin)
$0.50 Packaging cost per lb (bag and label)
$0.10 Storage cost (climate controlled to protect the coffee from mold)
$0.40 Web Page cost (admin)
